about us

Afri-Tanzania Volunteers for Change (AVC) is a youth-led volunteer organisation designed to encourage and further community development in Tanzania by empowering youth through volunteer work. Our organisation works with volunteers from all over the world.

AVC was founded by a group of young men and women eager to uplift themselves from unemployment and poverty and to make positive changes within their communities. AVC empowers children and youth through education and volunteer work which is designed to mitigate poverty in Tanzania. We run workshops, seminars, short-term and long-term volunteer programs, all of which are dedicated to helping youth find and reach their full potential.

AVC is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political charitable organization established under, and subject to, the exclusive jurisdiction of the laws of Tanzania. AVC is a registered volunteer organization with the registration number 00NGO/00007623 in Tanzania, East Africa.

AVC’s head office is located in Kinondoni District, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Volunteer accommodations are located in Dar  es Salaam Region and Kisarawe in Pwani Region, about 30 km North West of Dar es Salaam City Center.

We promote and improve the livelihoods of the children and youth in underserved communities through education, economic empowerment, policy advocacy, capacity building and culture exchange programmes, which are youth-centered, gender sensitive and environmental friendly.

The AVC team operates in a way where, every individual within a community can participate and contribute fully within cultural economic activities organizing:

a) Workshops, seminars and trainings.
b) Educational travel and excursions.
c) Work camps towards physical projects.
d) Intercultural events like family stay and sports.
